The reason for this is that we have spoken with many consumers about what they thought were improperly sounding speakers when in fact the problem was misadjusted tone controls. Also, if your amplifier or receiver has a graphic equalizer, we recom- mend that you leave it flat. This will give you the most linear and natural sound. Setting Bass and Treble Controls on Your Receiver or Amplifier Normally we recommend that you set the Bass and Treble controls on flat or 0 dB. Simply hook the StudioMonitors up to the left and right front (main) channels (assuming you are using them as front speakers). With Dolby Digital Receivers and Decoders Most systems using the StudioMonitors with a subwoofer will be Dolby Digital Systems. Using Your StudioMonitors with a Separate Subwoofer If you use a subwoofer, we strongly suggest using a Definitive PowerField SuperCube, PowerField or ProSub in order to achieve the highest level of sound quality possible. (Feel the side of the speakers to determine which side the woofer is on.) Facing the woofers in or out will vary the sound somewhat and which way is best will vary with your room.
The StudioMonitors are mirror imaged (serial numbers have either an A or a B) with the side mounted, pressure coupled subwoofers located so they may be set up with both woofers facing in (toward each other) or both woofers facing out (away from each other).
